Luciano Giannini:

Art, Tradition and Passion

For over thirty years, the art of cameo has come to life through experience, creativity, and craftsmanship.

an art handed down over time

The origins of a passion

Born in Torre del Greco on September 16, 1971, Luciano Giannini grew up in a family where cameo was much more than a profession: it was a tradition passed down from generation to generation.

From a young age he cultivated a strong passion for drawing and art, developing a sensitivity that led him to transform each engraving into a unique work.

THE ROOTS OF CAMEO ART

Maestro Franco Scala

The history of LG Cameo is rooted in the artistic tradition of Torre del Greco, a city known worldwide for its coral and shell work and the art of cameo making.

A central figure in this story is Maestro Franco Scala, a renowned engraver from Torre del Greco. Having discovered the art of cameo making at a very young age, he attended the Torre del Greco School of Art and in 1967 earned the prestigious Bulino d'Oro, distinguishing himself for the quality and originality of his engravings.

Throughout his career, he has created numerous works and participated in important initiatives dedicated to the promotion of Torre del Greco's engraving art. In 2019, he also created a commemorative cameo dedicated to Enrico De Nicola, destined for the President Emeritus of the Constitutional Court, Francesco Paolo Casavola.

It was in the workshop of Maestro Franco Scala that Luciano Giannini took his first steps in the art of engraving, beginning to learn the secrets of the burin, shell working, and an artistic tradition passed down from generation to generation.

Luciano Giannini's first steps

At the school of Maestro Franco Scala

It was in the workshop of Maestro Franco Scala that Luciano Giannini took his first steps in the world of cameo engraving.

For Luciano, entering that workshop means coming into contact with ancient knowledge, made up of technique, precision, patience and artistic sensitivity.

Alongside Maestro Scala, Luciano began to learn the secrets of shell working and the use of the burin, observing his master's work daily and learning to transform a simple fragment of shell into a work of art.

The years spent in the workshop were a true learning experience for Luciano. Through daily experience, observation, and practice, he gradually developed his artistic and technical skills, laying the foundations for the path that would lead him, in later years, to develop his own professional identity.

But that laboratory will become important for Luciano not only from an artistic point of view.

It was through his relationship with Maestro Franco Scala that Luciano met Anna Scala, his daughter, forging a bond that would forever unite art, family, and tradition.

two paths, one passion

Luciano and Anna Scala

Anna's presence represents a fundamental element in Luciano Giannini's artistic and professional journey.

His contribution is not only familial, but also work-related, moral and professional.

Over the years, Luciano and Anna have built a partnership that combines goldsmith skills with the art of engraving, creating a collaboration based on research, creativity, and respect for tradition.

Even today, Anna participates with passion and dedication in LG Cameo projects, contributing to the creation of the drawings and the design of the jewels.

This is how a tradition born in Franco Scala's workshop continues to live on through a new generation: an artistic heritage passed from the Maestro to his daughter and son-in-law, transformed into new creations without losing the soul of the ancient Torre del Greco art.

A tradition that continues, from generation to generation.

The new generation:

John Giannini

The LG Cameo story continues today with a new generation. Giovanni Giannini, son of Maestro Luciano Giannini, has chosen to follow in his family's footsteps and delve into the art of glassmaking and engraving.

A graduate of the Torre del Greco State Art Institute, Giovanni is developing his skills within the family workshop, where he can daily draw on the experience and knowledge he has acquired over the years.

His career represents the natural continuity of a story that began in the workshop of Maestro Franco Scala and continued with Luciano Giannini and Anna Scala.

With enthusiasm and dedication, Giovanni is thus preparing to carry on the art of the family workshop, helping to keep alive a tradition that continues to evolve through the new generations.
